Posted on May 15, 2009

According to media report, a Socorro city worker, Richie Chavez was busted for DWI while on the clock. It is not the first case of DWI for 38 year old Richie Chavez. Local police officials have said in a statement that Richie reeked of booze and blew over twice the legal limit on a Breathalyzer.

Past Record of DWI

Socorro mayor Ravi Bhasker has reportedly said in a media that Richie was on a duty and has not taken his responsibilities seriously. “He has to check the sewer plant on Saturday. He had to check it on Sunday to make sure it was operating,” pointed out Bhasker. Working in city’s sewage treatment plant for the last ten years, Richie has been arrested for DWI three times. Official records clearly indicate that Richie Chavez has so far face three convictions and four arrests. Surprisingly, Chavez has only done 60 days in jail despite all these serious charges.

When Richie was arrested eight years back, it nearly cost him his job. According to Socorro mayor, at that time Richie’s driving license was suspended and was told clearly that he cannot use any city vehicle from now. Once the investigation completes, there is a strong possibility that Chavez is going to be fired.
