I always felt that it was dangerous to drive while being drunk when I was sober. However, when I was drunk I did operate my motor vehicle many times in order to reach a destination within a specific period of time. I felt that I should not be at the mercy of others when I was drunk and be independent and drive my vehicle. I always felt that I was completely in control of myself when drunk whereas in realty I needed assistance. I had control of my reasoning ability and was not ready to follow instructions.
During the years when I was involved in alcohol abuse, I had caused serious injury to a person on the road. This led to a DWI case and I had to face serious penalties as I was prosecuted for drunk driving and my BAC was over 0.08%. Luckily the injury was not fatal but I have to face some penalties. The penalties included jail time along with fine and license suspension which affected my life completely and it took me a long time to get back to normal. I had to face criminal charges which affected my job prospects as well.
