It was in Arlington, in the state of Texas that the seriousness of controlling teen drinking came to light, when a 16 year old girl reported that she was raped at an off-campus drinking party attended by around 75 students at an Arlington High School.

A Zero Tolerance Law plan was introduced by School Superintendent Lynn Hale. He had a plan to introduce few simple and nonintrusive tests which will ensure that student enjoy an alcohol-free prom and parents are rest assured about the safety of their children. The students attending the school will be administered with test before being admitted. The policy was enforced in order to combat with teen drinking.

Each day, more than 5,200 youth in the United States under 16 take their first full drink of alcohol. Almost 11 million youth between 12 and 20 report drinking alcohol in the past month, with nearly 7.2 million reporting binge drinking. The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) at Georgetown University aims to reduce the rate of underage drinking, and the suffering caused by alcohol-related deaths and injuries among young people. It focuses on the public health strategy of limiting the appeal of alcohol to underage persons. ===================== Victor Comment
